2_1. PES Mechanism (Payment for Ecosystem Services)

NCIx is not a trading platform in the traditional sense; it adopts a PES (Payment for Ecosystem Services) mechanism.

"Transactions" or "trades" on the platform are essentially a form of compensation mechanism, primarily targeting:

· Landowners

· Forest farmers

· Personnel involved in forest protection or restoration actions

This type of compensation should:

· Be higher than general rent or wage levels.

· Be sufficient to cover the costs required for sustainable forest management.

Regarding distribution, it must also consider the income status after forest protection or restoration, ensuring reasonable and fair distribution as part of maintaining social justice and wealth redistribution.

However, PES is not directly linked to carbon sink volume or price, but it remains one of NCIx's basic goals. Therefore, it must be detailed and reviewed in application documents.

NCIx is not just a trading platform; it is a "service platform."

Its core lies in ensuring:

· Authenticity of nature and climate contributions

· Measurability

· Monitorability (Monitoring)

· Reportability (Reporting)

Although the contribution of forests to climate and ecology is generally recognized, differences still exist regarding:

· Definition of contribution

· Calculation methods

· Data standards

(e.g., disclosure systems and CBAM recognition).

Therefore, NCIx's purpose is to enhance the credibility of data, not merely rely on market transaction prices.
